Governance Standard

The Governance Standard defines the policies, responsibilities, review processes, and change controls that guide the evolution of official standards throughout the Satoshium Suite.

It is a standards-governance instrument. It does not replace the broader Satoshium Suite Governance Model, which governs constitutional authority, institutional sovereignty, governance decisions, change control, and historical preservation across the Suite.

Standards Governance

Defines ownership, stewardship, and responsibility for maintaining official Satoshium standards.

Established

Change Management

Defines how standards are proposed, reviewed, approved, and published.

Established

Version Control

Establishes procedures for versioning, superseding, and preserving historical standards.

Established

Transparency

Ensures governance decisions are documented, reviewable, and publicly accessible whenever appropriate.

Established

Standard Role

The Governance Standard keeps official Satoshium standards consistent, accountable, versioned, reviewable, and historically preserved. It governs the maintenance of standards without absorbing the operational authority of the institutions that apply them.

Standards Governance ≠ Suite Governance.
The Governance Standard governs how Suite Standards evolve. The broader Suite Governance Model governs constitutional authority, institutional sovereignty, institutional change, governance decisions, and preservation across the Suite.

Relationship to Suite Governance

The completed Satoshium Suite Governance Review established a broader constitutional governance framework around the settled Suite architecture. The Governance Standard remains the standards-maintenance layer within that framework.

Governance Standard → maintenance and evolution of Suite Standards
Suite Governance Model → constitutional authority, institutional sovereignty, canonical ownership, governance decisions, change control, and historical preservation

The current controlling governance decision is GDR-2026-0026 — Satoshium Suite Governance Model, approved and effective October 11, 2026.

Authority Boundary

Standards stewardship, standards review, publication, implementation, reference, and interoperability do not by themselves transfer institutional authority or canonical ownership.

Review does not equal approval. Suite review does not create Suite ownership. Changes to institutional role, canonical ownership, Suite membership, authority allocation, or constitutional dependency require the applicable Suite Governance process.

Well-governed standards create enduring institutions.
