Terminology Standard
The Terminology Standard establishes the official vocabulary used throughout the
Satoshium Suite to ensure every concept, record, standard, governance decision, and process
is described consistently.
A shared language reduces ambiguity, improves interoperability, and preserves the
distinctions among institutional authority, Suite Governance, canonical ownership,
change classification, and historical state.
Official Definitions
Defines the canonical meaning of terms used across the Suite, including certification, evidence, attestation, canonical ownership, governance, institutional sovereignty, change classification, GDRs, and constitutional status.
Established
Naming Conventions
Establishes consistent naming for pages, schemas, identifiers, standards, and public interfaces.
Established
Controlled Vocabulary
Defines approved terminology while identifying deprecated, ambiguous, or synonymous terms.
Established
Cross-Reference Terms
Provides relationships between concepts so terminology remains consistent across every Suite subsystem.
Established
Governance Vocabulary
The October 11, 2026 Satoshium Suite Governance Review established a controlled governance vocabulary that now forms part of current Suite terminology.
Suite Governance → protects constitutional boundaries.
Institutional Governance → governs institution-owned responsibilities.
Institutional Sovereignty → distinct authority within settled institutional domains.
Governed Subject → the subject whose authority or state is being governed.
Routine Change → remains within settled authority.
Material Change → requires review appropriate to governed subject and shared impact.
Constitutional Change → alters settled Suite architecture and requires Formal Suite Governance.
Governance Records & Constitutional Terms
Governance Decision Record (GDR) → formal record of a governance decision.
Governance Decision Register → authoritative current-state and historical-lineage index of governance decisions.
Canonical Ownership → governed authority over canonical identity and state.
Authority Transfer → explicit governed reassignment of authority.
Architecture Reconciliation → governed review of material architectural contradiction or change.
Constitutional Admission → formal governance act admitting a new Suite institution.
Current controlling governance decision: GDR-2026-0026 — Satoshium Suite Governance Model.

Shared Custody ≠ Shared Ownership.
Multiple Representations ≠ Multiple Authorities.
New Capability ≠ New Institution.
Interoperability Failure ≠ Source Invalidity.

Protocol & Interface Vocabulary
Implementation language must remain subordinate to settled institutional architecture.
Protocol → governed rules for performing an action, update, exchange, validation, or coordinated interaction within an existing authority boundary.
Contract → declared structural or semantic requirements for an implementation, representation, validator, exchange, or handoff.
Interface → governed exchange boundary for requests, references, records, results, or state.
Handoff → traceable transfer of a request, reference, context, or work item between workflow steps or participants.
PROTOCOL ≠ INSTITUTION.
PROTOCOL ≠ CANONICAL OBJECT.
PROTOCOL ≠ AUTHORITY TRANSFER.
PROTOCOL-SPECIFIC SEQUENCE ≠ SUITE-WIDE MANDATORY PIPELINE.
CONTRACT ≠ CANONICAL OWNERSHIP.
INTERFACE FAILURE ≠ SOURCE INVALIDITY.
HANDOFF ≠ AUTHORITY TRANSFER.
WORKFLOW HANDOFF ≠ INSTITUTIONAL DETERMINATION.
Standard Role
The Terminology Standard provides the common language that unifies documentation,
software, standards, methodologies, and public records throughout the Satoshium Suite.
Consistent language supports consistent governance and understanding, but terminology must preserve the architecture and authority model rather than redefine them.
